Brian,

I do not have a working Edgy system right now. I thought that was the whole
point of my report - I cannot boot liveCD Edgy Herd 5 (or 4 or 2, I believe)
but I can boot 6.10 just fine (again I just the liveCD). I can get the
results of these commands from 6.10. Would this be OK?

I have been monitoring Edgy Ubuntu forum and I noticed that there are a lot
of people in the same (or similar) boat as me. Basically anybody with a new
SATA based system with JMicron controller has a similar problem.

I do not know any details of kernel development, but it looks to me that
something got broken there. As I said, I can boot 6.10 fine, which is
2.6.17 based if I am not mistaken. I have tried to boot the newest versions
of liveCD of FC6, openSuse 10.2 and Knoppix 5.1.1 with similar results, that
is no go. They are all 2.6.20 based.

Somebody mentioned that Herd 3 can boot my system. I am going to download
it and try to boot it. If I am succesful, I will report the result of these
two commands. I will report to you on this separately.

Finally, I wanted to say that I really appreciate Linux community and I like
the Ubuntu philosophy as well as the product. I am not sure how I could
help, but I would be willing to give it a shot. Coul you let me know how I
can help Ubuntu development?

Thans in advance,

Andy Jaworski

Subject: [Bug 89380] Re: 7.04 herd 5 liveCD will not boot

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. Could you please add the output of 'lspci -vv' and 'lspci -vvn'
from your working Edgy system? Thanks in advance.
