I have been too busy to look into this but from what I've gathered most of the switchable graphics is done via acpi 'hotpluging'.
This would need to be done before X starts since X.org does not currently support switchable graphics. I was emailed the acpi dump for the lenovo laptop from the author of ''lenovo_acpi.ko' and I'll attach it when things calm down. There seems to be almost zero interest in tackling switchable graphics on the xorg/kernel front. I've pulled the acpi docs and it seems that disabling a card before X starts should be doable (works w/ lenovo_acpi.ko). However, the acpi decompile doesn't have the same hooks as the lenovo. -- hp Dm3z with switchable graphics can not use fglrx graphics / disable card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/486714 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
