Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: indicator-applet

The indicator-applet (0.3.2) in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04 won't show the
menu's (the one for your IM settings and the one to log out/shutdown)
after failing to do a partial upgrade, or perhaps just because of trying
to do updates at all.

The menu's won't drop down, instead when you press either one of the
buttons only a small part of the menu shows up, empty, no text, just a
small area with the background colour.

After placing the indicator-applet on the panel again, or doing a reboot
everything is fine again.
