That there are multiple notification possibilities does not mean they
are interchangeable. We have notification design guidelines for which
method developers should use in particular situations.

So thanks for the suggestion, but no, there should not be an option for
the particular visual treatment used for update notifications. Edward
Tufte calls that kind of option "We don't know how to design a user
interface. Why don't you have a go?"
