Clean install on a new hard drive. 9.10 installed and booted clean.
Update manager announced upgrades, which I approved and left to work.

Received a message about replacing grub - I opted to view the
difference(s). That was a waste of time - one was 4 and the other was 5
- and that was all.

Out of that and attempted to install per package manager - crash bang -
booted okay - will probably run update manager after a reboot and see
what happens.
