Hi,
Why not syncing/merge from Debian?! The result will be the same, and it doesn't
seems that there are ugly bugs in Debian (even if it's in experimental).
And what about the rdepends? apt-cache shows 23 packages. Can you upload the
new liblo to a ppa, and also upload some of the rdepends, to check what will be
the impact of the new lib?
