I've just made updated versions of hardy available. They've got a fix
for the ec2-init bug selecting us-east-1 mirrors when running in us-
west-1. That was the only real issue not fixable by a update.
The karmic images were available last week. So, marking this "fixed" .
I do hope to get to a regular refresh policy soon.
