I have already explained that this symptom is -not- a bug in alsa or
pulseaudio, so please don't belabor the point. Moreover, you may use
several workarounds if you insist on using jaunty's kernel in karmic,
namely see the wiki page for DebuggingSoundProblems and follow the
(rather prominent) link for karmic symptoms. The specific workaround
that you should consider is outlined here, too: see the second point
at http://drowninginbugs.blogspot.com/2009/10/caveats-for-audio-in-910.html
. You should load module-detect explicitly. Be sure to comment out the
if/else/fi bits. Then, killall pulseaudio .

My point is not to annoy you, but be aware that I have already pointed
out that you should use the right karmic 2.6.31-based kernel and
reproduce the symptom in order for us to proceed further in debugging.
If you refuse to do that, I'm afraid we're just going to have to agree
to disagree.
