Can confirm also on 32bit 9.10 on a Sony Vaio vgn-nr330fe. The script mentioned by Martin by-passes the solution, as it attempts to umount prior to suspend/hibernate. As I use files from the SD card, they are locked, and umounting the device is not a solution. (It won't umount) Device has to remain mounted, while suspended to ensure locked files remain linked to open applications.
