I have a Toshiba Satellite 2410, geforce4 420 go running Ubuntu 9.10 - the
Karmic Koala
After enabling proprietary "nVidia accelerated graphics driver (version 96)" I
got a blank gui screen.
I had to edit xorg.conf adding Option "ConnectedMonitor" "DFP" under Section
"Screen"
then I had the black bar down the side because the backend resolution was 976
pixels not 1024.
I had to add download an edid.bin file and add Option "CustomEDID"
"DFP-0:/etc/X11/edid.bin" under Section "Device" to fix it.
I still have crashes whenever resizing video in videolan and the default video
player unless I change the output device from default to "X11 video output"
(tools/preferences/video in videolan).
