I have just run this command twice and it didn't seem to cause any
freezes, but it did log me off eventually and I had to log in again--
maybe that's how it's supposed to be?

I am not running the latest version of the ppa (2.8.1-1), but the
previous one. (I didn't even test it. I wouldn't now how to revert it if
it crashes already during start up. So after the first reports on the
crashes, I decided not to install it.)
