Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.31-17-generic
Kernel version 2.6.31-17 recognizes my Intel internal sound card only if I
disable Software modem from Hardware Drivers. Otherwise gnome-volume-control
recognizes no sound hardware.
In kernel 2.6.31-14 sound is working with enabled Software modem.
