I happen to get a solution to this :
1) During installation when it asks for option at the user creation screen
instead of going with the default option of
" required user id and password for login " I selected "option automatic login
" and the installation worked .
To check if this was just a fluke, i ran the installtion couple of times
on the same machine and came to the conclusion when ever i went with the
default logon option i.e " required user id and password for login " i
ended up with the above error "ubiquity crashed with InstallStepError in
configure_user()" and whenever i selected the " automatic login option "
it went through , I am not a guru but this is what I tried to understand
from the syslog file .This is my dummy way of getting this resolved as
of now.
I would appreciate any help if some one explain me any downside of this
option or the actual reason of the error i faced .
