Public bug reported:

During bootup, the system pauses. From dmesg:

[ 3.912022] raid6: sse2x1 2354 MB/s
[ 3.980021] raid6: sse2x2 2592 MB/s

[ 3.988226] md: raid4 personality registered for level 4
[ 3.996334] md: raid10 personality registered for level 10
[ 39.027301] EXT3-fs: INFO: recovery required on readonly filesystem.
[ 39.027357] EXT3-fs: write access will be enabled during recovery.
[ 39.404373] kjournald starting. Commit interval 5 seconds
[ 39.404440] EXT3-fs: sda1: orphan cleanup on readonly fs
[ 39.444251] ext3_orphan_cleanup: deleting unreferenced inode 500050

During that period, nothing is printed out and it appears the system has
hung.

This was also confirmed in the linux-image-2.6.32-02063204-generic
package, which I believe is the closest upstream match to the Ubuntu
kernel I am running.
