This bug also affects me as long as I can remember. It doesn't happen
with all files and not with all websites. Unfortunately it affects me in
Smartschool, a popular "electronic learning environment" in Belgium that
I use on a daily basis. Almost all the files that suffer from this bug
have application/force-download as file-type.

The workaround is indeed to first save it and then open it. Of course
this isn't very user friendly and it costs some time. If you need to do
it a lot, it becomes frustrating. So, I would be V-E-R-Y happy if this
bug could be solved.

System: Ubuntu 9.10 (but this bug was also present in former versions of
Ubuntu).
