Public bug reported:
Hi, I have two Seagate Momentus 7200.1 100GB drives and an NVIDIA nForce
SATA controller. The Kubuntu Feisty Herd 4 Alternate Install CD (i386)
does not detect the two drives and their partitions correctly. I don't
really know what it does, it seems to call them SCSI drives, but you
can't do anything to the partitions and they do not have regular names.
The first time I used this disc, I went back and reloaded the partition
manager part of the installer and it detected them OK, but the second
time doing that made no difference, and I had to use the Edgy DVD to do
the partitioning, and then just used the Feisty CD to install the OS. I
don't know if this has been fixed for Herd 5 - sorry if it has!
