This is working as designed. The console log level is set so that sysrq
messages aren't sent to it by default. If you use dmesg or view
/var/log/messages you will see the sysrq message output. If you can't
access dmesg or /var/log/messages, then you can set the log console log
level so that you can see the output by using sysrq with '8' instead of
'm' or 'p'. After setting the log level to a higher number, you will be
able to see the sysrq output on the console.
