confirmed identical behaviour with brasero. with the brasero run, I generated monitor output (attached). discovered from monitor log that kernel is generating lots of events as soon as burning starts. First a lot of scsi events (3-5/sec), then a burst of block events (about 200 events in about one tenth of a second!) and then again lots of scsi events
