Hello,
This system was installed using karmic media. Why do you have the grub
package installed instead of the grub-pc package (grub2)?
Please run 'sudo apt-get install grub-pc' from the commandline, and
report the list of packages that apt wants to remove.
Installing grub-pc will resolve this error for you.
