Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

If GDM is diabled using "sudo mv /etc/init/gdm.conf /etc/init/gdm.conf-
disabled" and a reboot performed, rather then getting a login terminal
upon restart, only see a flashing cursor "_" -- changing Virtual
Consoles (Alt+F1 to Alt+F6) show regular text login

It "appears" as if the system is hung or frozen - really it's on Virtual
Console F7
