I think I am just smacking into this issue today. I was very confused why daemontools was reporting that it was not running, even after a reboot. Finally I found this page: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DaemontoolsUpstartConfig which at least got the service started with:
#start daemontools daemontools (start) waiting daemontools (start) starting daemontools (start) pre-start daemontools (start) spawned, process 2606 daemontools (start) post-start, (main) process 2606 daemontools (start) running, process 2606 But after a reboot is was not automatically started. So, what is the workaround proposal to autostarting the daemontools service for now?
