Hi Pepe; I don't mind trying this but I'm not really sure what would be the best approach. I have a spare hard drive; should I get the latest lucid, install it, and try from there?
Otherwise, I don't mind trying something else, but in general I would prefer not to mess with my (otherwise working) 9.10 system, so I should install something on my spare disk and then do something to incorporate the new kernel you point out.
