Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: gedit
When I try to open a normal text file using gedit it gives the following error
Could not open the file ..../Readme.txt.
gedit has not been able to detect the character coding.
Please check that you are not trying to open a binary file.
Select a character coding from the menu au try again.
choosing any of the available encodings in the list doesn't work, the
file is in English anyway.
I am using Karmic amd64
I thought it may be my installation is broken , so I tried the same on a
fresh install of Karmic in virtualbox, the same thing happened.
Thanks
