According to
http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/How_to_hotswap_Ultrabay_devices this
should be handled by udev.
ENV{BAY_EVENT}=="3", ACTION=="change", SUBSYSTEM=="scsi",
RUN+="/usr/local/sbin/ultrabay_eject"
A simple script for ultrabay_eject that verifies if the change is seen
by udev:
#!/bin/sh
touch /tmp/ultrabay$$
