Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: upstart
System is: HP-Pavilion HPE-030sc rig with dual screen (HDMI and VGA,
both LCD using NVidia proprietary drivers), Wireless mouse/keyboard (HPs
own) and (built in) Wireless for network.
Sometime the GRUB boot-timer stops, sometimes it works (seen similar
bug-reports). This might be unrelated, even thou it seems that when you
get no timer the _hard_ lockup occurs less frequent.
By changing the "default" monitor to VGA the hard lockup occured less
frequent, but still occurs once in a while (1/7). Might be by chance (or
some other change that was scripted/pulled in outside my control), but
when HDMI was "default" the system hang 2/3.
The system hangs with a black screen with the white Ubuntu logo.
When the desktop loads the system runs 100%.
Win7 on the same system runs 90% (wrong resolution on HDMI display) but Win7
starts every time.
** Affects: upstart (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
