Public bug reported:
On bootup I think after the sound system gets initialized, I hear a
constant tapping sound from speakers. Even if I turn mute the s/w volume
in ubuntu, I still hear it.
I don't know what information to give about my machine. It's a dell
dimension 4550. AC97 sound if that makes sense.
I don't hear the sound in Windows or Opensuse.
