The "lock screen when screensaver is active" button was unchecked for me as well. I checked it and went through all points 1-5 in post #7. Same thing happens, user1 is logged back in, without password.
After this has happened, with user1 still logged in, i go through the points 3-5 in the post once more (log in as user2, and log out). But then I'm asked for a password (as it should be). So obviously it is malfunctioning only sometimes...
