** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: netbase

"invoke-rc.d networking restart" fails on Lucid: for some reason,
dhclient does not receive an answer anymore, and the network interface
is down (IIRC there was only a inet6 address assigned, but not inet
  (IPv4)).

I see that the networking init.d script is probably deprecated, but "service
networking restart" (using upstart) fails with:
  "restart: Unknown instance:"

I can provide more information about the failure of
/etc/init.d/networking, if necessary (but I've not managed to recover
from it apart from rebooting the last time).

What's the supposed method to restart networking in Lucid? (e.g. after
  having installed resolvconf etc)

+ iface lo inet loopback
+ auto eth0
