** Description changed: Binary package hint: netbase "invoke-rc.d networking restart" fails on Lucid: for some reason, dhclient does not receive an answer anymore, and the network interface is down (IIRC there was only a inet6 address assigned, but not inet (IPv4)). I see that the networking init.d script is probably deprecated, but "service networking restart" (using upstart) fails with: "restart: Unknown instance:" I can provide more information about the failure of /etc/init.d/networking, if necessary (but I've not managed to recover from it apart from rebooting the last time). What's the supposed method to restart networking in Lucid? (e.g. after having installed resolvconf etc) + + $ grep -P '^\w' /etc/network/interfaces + auto lo + iface lo inet loopback + auto eth0 + iface eth0 inet dhcp + + ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Jan 24 02:20:56 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 10.04 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: netbase 4.35ubuntu3 PackageArchitecture: all ProcEnviron: - LANGUAGE= - PATH=(custom, user) - LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 - SHELL=/bin/bash + LANGUAGE= + PATH=(custom, user) + LANG=de_DE.UTF-8 + SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.32-11.15-generic SourcePackage: netbase Uname: Linux 2.6.32-11-generic i686
