Hi I seem to be having the same issue: - I installed a fresh new install - ran software update until everything was up to date. - Software Center runs but has the same symptoms as the original bug submitter. There are no applications listed as installed or any listed under any of the software categories..
My system is 32 bit asus motherboard, intel OS is Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic, latest Kernel Kinda stuck..
