I attempted to reproduce this issue using Lucid Lynx and Thunderbird
2.0.0.23 but was not able to. It was a new install, I added an email
account to thunderbird, set it up to check for updates every 10 minutes,
and unplugged the internet cable from the system. After 20 minutes,
which should be two attempts to find updates, I have not seen any
password entry window. Is it still an issue for you?
