I agree. Ubuntu is working on a program called apport that intercepts
crashes and sends them to launchpad. That's a great improvement over
the kmail requirement that currently seems to exist. Since Amarok is in
the Qt3->Qt4 transition now, this probably won't be able to be addressed
for a few months or so.
In the meantime, please check bugs.kde.org to see if a similar bug as
this one has been reported on Amarok's bugtracker. Provide a link here
so we can track it upstream.
