Using cpio -pvdm to copy lots of files from a USB drive to a RAID 5
array (XFS) causes this error.
Using Ubuntu 8.10, release 8.10.
AMD Quad core, 8GB, SATA-300 drives in MDADM managed array.
External drive is NTFS.
dmesg gives: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#1 stuck for 61s! [cpio:685]
