Did you see my latest posting? It was my stupid fault. The config links on
the rear of the DVD were wrong. For some reason that renders it bootable,
but not visible when running Ubuntu.

9.04 fails to recognise DVD drive
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/374999
You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber
of the bug.

Status in “linux” package in Ubuntu: New

Bug description:
Machine will boot from 9.04 CD in a DVD drive . (CD trusted as it verifies
itself on another machine). At the menu Install Ubuntu drops back to
initramfs prompt. Same machine loaded 8.10 from same drive, and would see
the drive once 8.10 installed.
So I loaded 8.10, updated all fixes then upgraded to 9.04. The DVD
disappeared.
