Binary package hint: xsplash
I am using 9.10 Karmic Koala, installed from Live CD. Dual booting with
Windows XP.
Karmic started up fine the first few times- yet now, EVERY time I start
it up, during the "little white ubuntu logo" screen, the laptop screen
shuts off, the hard disk seems to stop and NOTHING happens. The only way
I can get out of this is to hold the power button, forcing a power down.
If I boot from the Live CD again, allow it to run the Ubuntu demo (which
starts up fine) then restart and load Karmic again, it is okay- but only
for that ONE session.
I looked online, and some suggestion was to start in recovery mode (from
Grub), log in as root and to give the following commands:
# sudo apt-get remove xorg-driver-fglrx
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure-phigh xserver-xorg
#exit
This done nothing.
