I checked once more and it looks like problem isn't in the update- manager itself but apt in general. In my case update-manager hangs because it has problem with downloading some packets. Apt (using console this time) also is stopping at the same point. When I changed repository (from pl to en) it started to work fine. Using apt-get's options -m, --fix-missing, --ignore-missing had no result.
