I have a *loy* of problems with samba printers. I hope'd this was the fix, but unfortunately I have no "samba" user in /etc/passwd. It is supposed to exists? I have a dapper drake standard samba installation.
My problem is that cupsaddsmb fails (and start looping over itself) with an error on rpcclient. I tried again with higher log level, and the result is the following: rpcclient localhost -N -A /tmp/44ce08496fd68 -c 'setdriver DeskJet-3940 DeskJet-3940' Connecting to host=localhost resolve_lmhosts: Attempting lmhosts lookup for name localhost<0x20> resolve_wins: Attempting wins lookup for name localhost<0x20> resolve_wins: WINS server resolution selected and no WINS servers listed. resolve_hosts: Attempting host lookup for name localhost<0x20> Connecting to 127.0.0.1 at port 445 Doing spnego session setup (blob length=58) got OID=1 3 6 1 4 1 311 2 2 10 got principal=NONE Got challenge flags: Got NTLMSSP neg_flags=0x608a0235 NTLMSSP: Set final flags: Got NTLMSSP neg_flags=0x60080215 NTLMSSP Sign/Seal - Initialising with flags: Got NTLMSSP neg_flags=0x60080215 rpc_pipe_bind: Remote machine localhost pipe \lsarpc fnum 0x759f bind request returned ok. lsa_io_sec_qos: length c does not match size 8 rpc_pipe_bind: Remote machine localhost pipe \spoolss fnum 0x75a0 bind request returned ok. SetPrinter call failed! result was WERR_ACCESS_DENIED Well, it seems that all this is seriously busted. -- Dapper : /var/lib/samba/printers is not owned by samba => installing a printer won't work https://launchpad.net/bugs/50109 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
