unfortunately, the version you mentioned (evdev 2.4.0) is not out yet. It is indeed a bug in the evdev driver which is already fixed on the upstream source server. Compiling and installing the head revision from their repository fixes the bug (at least it did so on my machine).
If you want to give it a try, you can get the master revision here: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/driver/xf86-input-evdev/commit/ You'll have to compile it yourself, to install just replace the existing xorg module (evdev_drv.so) with your compiled one.
