Ok "quiet" is the one that silences the boot up messages. I put
"splash" back but it made no difference.
BTW- Even with "splash" removed my VT is still VT7 as usual, and not VT1 l.
The duplicate bug you referred to doesn't seem to apply to my problem.
With all the developers knowledge I would think you would have another
means to extract the needed data. Isn't there a way to trap the bootup
process to see exactly where it fails?
For example, putting in a script along the boot up path, at various
times in the boot process.
Removing Plymouth "solves" my problem, but it may not be Plymouth at
all, and could very well be a conflict of programs or ureadahead or
upstart masking another problem.
