@Chase: No I won't try to reproduce this with yet another kernel.  It
was present in older Ubuntu releases and is trivial for you to
reproduce.

You won't see many reports about it because people don't generally
unplug things while hibernating - instead they walk away from their
computer.  This only bites me on the rare occasion that I use my USB KVM
switch to switch to another machine while the first is hibernating.
