Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: netbook-launcher

After enabling Metacity's compositing feature in gconf, my netbook panel
starts to behave strangely. It often disappears without beeing
inaccessible (i.e. the applets still can be accessed if I guess the
correct position :)).

A workarround is to enable Gnome Do via Super + Space, disable it and
enable it again.
