Thanks for your report.

This error was due to a corrupted archive (as the error message says) It
is most often caused by a network failure, hardware failure, bad proxy,
failing mirror,... and not a bug in synaptic.

To fix the bug with synaptic you have to clear the package cache
(setting/preferences/files/delete cached files) and retry the update.

Since it was a while ago I suppose you've fixed it, but if it was not
the case then reopen this report. Thanks
