Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Hi
My original use for Ubuntu One was well obviously collaboration-related; me and
a friend were writing a script for a class. Unfortunately, Ubuntu One would
very often delete files from the directory and by now I have figured out a way
to reproduce this.

1) Write a latex document in ~/Ubuntu One just anything.tex and write some
stuff in it.
2) Compile it to PDF
3) fix something in anything.tex and recompile it.

do all of this while Ubuntu One is running and you run into a version
conflict, obviously, as there are many files with the same time stamp
floating around. To make the situation worse, Ubuntu One for some reason
can't decide which way to go and you end up without the original .tex
file no backup copy no u1conflict nothing.

That is very very annoying particularly when you're being paid for
writing a script and Ubuntu One keeps deleting your work. If it helps, I
have changed my writing strategy and actually use Ubuntu One just as a
"dump", i.e. I write locally in ~/Documents/Script and when I'm done I
copy the files to ~/Ubuntu One.

I hope this gets fixed very very quickly.

If you have any questions please let me know and I'll try to respond as
quickly as possibly.

config: Kubuntu 9.10 ... let me know what else you need to know :-)
