Update: printer is now working. I was not low on toner. I was able to print a test from Brother's web-admin interface. As well, I was able to print when connected via and formatted for USB. I finally went into the CUPS interface, removed the printer, and added it using Appsocket/HPDirect rather than the lpd network printer the system found automatically, and it works just fine.
So, I'm happy, but I do believe the troubleshooter is highly unintuitive and counterproductive, and others may run into issues. I suppose that's not a bug, per se. -- printer disabled upon error https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/515212 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
