The problem does not exist in 2.6.32-13-generic
It is my guess that this bug is associated with
NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.53-pkg2
after I installed the new kernel (2.6.32-14-generic) my computer would
boot up and when it got to the splash screen everything was scrambled so
I was unable to use the gui.
I tried to sudo sh ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-190.53-pkg2
and it said there was an error and it was related to the kernel and
something about gcc. This is why I think it is some sort of conflict
between the NVIDIA driver and the kernel.
I could probably recreate the problem by going into recovery mode and
initiate the updated kernel.
