Ok, I was able to get the error message fixed so I could run the package
manager. It did find the intel package.

Bug description:
Ubuntu newbie here.  On startup, I get a message that it has to use low-res 
display - and the display is very odd.  It's like it doesn't have a driver for 
an HP Touchsmart (desktop).  Also I get no sound (don't know if they are 
related...).  I just upgraded from 9.04.
