I've been having trouble recreating the bug today. I have been unable to
cause it to occur directly from boot as of yet (perhaps the recent gnome
updates are responsible for this), though I have been able to recreate it
by restarting gnome from a VT. When this occurs, network and loopback
interfaces are configured correctly.
I seem to recall, when I initially reported the bug, being able to achieve
normal functionality from the VT's, but no response from X until I
discovered the workaround of rebooting (restarting X was insufficient)
without the adapter plugged in. I cannot recall definitively if I did
anything that would have verified network coniguration, however. I will
continue to attempt to recreate the problem and will let you know if I
have success. I also recall that this was occurring when the battery
charge was less than fifty percent, which I have not gotten down to yet.
