Wow, thanks for keeping this bug up to date, the issue is very well
described and identified.

Unfortunately, because this bug is not reported against any package, it
didn't get any attention during a long time from ubuntu developers.
Happily, this issue is known to be fixed with latest 2.6.30 linux kernel
in ubuntu 9.10 (karmic), therefore you only need to upgrade to karmic to
have this bug fixed. I found that this bug was a known issue with many
duplicate. According to this, I'm marking this bug as a duplicate of bug
334249 . To make things easier for developers, if you can still
reproduce this bug, first make sure that you don't use any workaround
(no special boot entry in grub, or other workarounds) and if you can
still reproduce the problem with latest ubuntu version, please open a
new bug report, by typing "ubuntu-bug linux" in a terminal (without the
quotes""). Thanks for your participation in launchpad!
