I would suppose that the error message is responsible for this error,
because I just tried reproducing this issue and did not succeed, the
error string itself is properly encoded, but without knowing the precise
error raised it is impossible to do anything about this. Though I am
wondering in general since the translation wrappers should fall back to
latin if unicode fails, which apparently was not the case here. I do not
think that guessing is much of a good option though.
