I have the same problem, it only started with Herd 5. One odd thing I
noticed in my log is this:
[114364.279248] ide: failed opcode was: unknown
[114364.279252] hdc: drive not ready for command
[114364.279290] hdc: status error: status=0x58 { DriveReady SeekComplete
DataRequest }
This is repeated over and over, slowing down my boot time. However, the
drive functions normally, aside from the ghost CD.
