I'll start by stating that my knowledge of Ubuntu is next to none. This was an issue on my system Ubuntu 9.04. It was not allowing my to uninstall anything due to ttf-mscorefonts-installer. when I tried to remove it, I was told that it was not on my system but the Ubuntu- Restricted-Extras were. running the command defoma-reconfigure -f fixed the issue and I can now uninstall programs. Again, I'm not that informed on how this might help people or if it will fix anything at all. I hope it at least helps a select few. Good luck with your problem.
